Fa La La La La

I usually am a serious stickler for doing the holidays in order. And so I usually get majorly bent out of shape when stores start marketing Easter as soon as the Christmas goods have been cleared up, or putting out school supplies even before the Fourth Of July has passed, or playing Christmas music before I've even put up my Halloween decorations, let alone celebrated Thanksgiving.

But today I went shopping at Costco for butter, eggs, and chicken nuggets. 20 minutes later I had butter, eggs, chicken nuggets, and $50 worth of Christmas wrapping paper, Christmas gift tags, Christmas tissue paper, wrapping paper cutters, and tape dispensers. And as I wandered through the seasonal aisles full of twinkling lights and shiney ornaments, I found myself humming Deck the Halls without meaning to. I couldn't help it. Those nodding yard deer and musical Santas just got me in the mood.

I have betrayed everything I believe in. I hate myself.

I hated myself 2 days ago at Walmart, when I couldn't help but walk by the Christmas section (formerly outdoor stuff) and bought a stuffed reindeer for my puppy's present, some shatter-proof ornaments for decorations on my coffee table, and some cute sticker tags. I couldn't help myself. blah

I hated myself 2 days ago, when I had to walk the newly organized Christmas area of Walmart. I got a stuffed reindeer as a puppy gift, some cute gift tags, and some shatter-proof ornaments for decoration on my coffee table. Blah us.

I'm the same way too - and funny thing is, today at the store we stopped at the Christmas section. The kids loved it so much, that I couldn't help but love it too. I think its the kids' fault.

I feel like that this year, too. Normally I get SO frustrated at the early Christmas decorations out because I feel like Thanksgiving gets the shaft. But in all honesty, I'm actually really excited for the Christmas season to come. (Now if only I didn't have to think of what to get the in-laws. . . .)

The first step is admitting you have a problem :)

It's not your fault - it's Costco! I don't think I've ever walked in that place and left with ONLY the things on my list. Bastards.
