The Breakfast Of (HCG) Champions

On the HCG diet, along with 200 grams of lean meat, one is supposed to eat two servings of vegetables and two servings of fruit a day. She can eat them together, at a meal, like Halibut, cucumbers, and oranges. Or separate, as a snack or for dessert. For me, I like to have my first serving of fruit for breakfast, in the form of a smoothie. So I thought I'd share my smoothie recipe. Because even if you're not on this diet, you will love how delicious, nutritious, and low-cal this breakfast or snack is.

Strawberry Breakfast Smoothie

Throw in the blender:
5-6 strawberries, cut in quarters (leaves removed)
1 TBS non-fat Greek yogurt (you can also use regular non-fat yogurt, but the Greek yogurt is so much creamier. You can also use vanilla yogurt for extra flavor).**
2 TBS water
3 packets Truvia (or 2 TBS sugar if you like getting fatter)*
5 ice cubes
optional - 1/2 orange (add one extra ice cube)
Blend until smooth.

Enjoy this 42 Calorie Breakfast, dessert, or snack!

* Truvia is an all-natural, 0 calorie sweetener. It's made from the sweetest part of the Stevia leaf, (Stevia is a member of the crystanthemum family). Stevia has been used for sweetening foods and drinks in Paraguay for over 200 years. And did I mention ZERO calories!?!
** Yogurt is not officially on the HCG diet. However, I have been using 1 TBS in my smoothies in lieu of the permitted 1 TBS non-fat milk for most of my diet and haven't noticed any difference in my weight loss. I find that it adds a lot of flavor and creaminess to the smoothie, so I'm sticking with it. Feel free to substitute it with non-fat milk if you're following the HCG diet exactly.

If you use frozen strawberries you don't have to use ice cubes.

Excellent sounding Smoothie. I guess I'll go out and buy strawberries!

If you had birthday cake, I'm surprised you lost ANY weight at all. Good for you!

Please reply in your next blog: How is your hunger feeling? It might be a good contrast to report K's results about hunger and this diet. He's a brick to hang with you on it!

How is it filling at all without some protein? I'm thinking I would have to add a little protein powder.

I've had three friends do this diet, and each of them have gained the weight back as soon as they eat bread, pasta, or pizza again. To me, it's just not worth it. Why not just lower your caloric intake and exercise more?

Leslie, you might want to go back and read my original post on why I'm doing this diet. But basically, I have been eating less and exercising (trying) for the last 9 months and have yo-yo'ed the same 2 lbs that whole time. It just wasn't working for me. I couldn't get ahead or find enough motivation to keep at it for more than a week or two.

Somehow the rigidity of this diet works for me. There is no fudging it, no cheating, no getting lazy. You committ for 3 weeks and you see serious results. THAT is inspiring for me.

As for whether or not I will gain it back, it remains to be seen. I know people who have done every diet from Weight Watchers to Atkins to tons of exercise to Gastric Bypass who have all gained it back once they went back to what they were doing before. I'm hoping that my success depends more on my behavior after than what I did to get there.

The HCG Protocol is set up with a very specific plan on how to keep the weight off after the low calorie portion of the diet is over. I'm hoping if I follow it, it will work. But I expect that like every diet out there, it will depend on how I eat and exercise once the weight is off.

You should read Pounds and Inches by Dr. Simeon to see for yourself how the whole thing works.

Thanks for your thoughts.

Not sure that I made it exactly like yours, I put in some Pineapple and mango chunks..I used to much ice because my fruit was frozen. But it is really good. It satisfies my ice cream craving in the summer

Truvia is a Big NO NO on the RX HCG Diet as Truvia contains "Erythritol" which IS SUGAR and will cause stalls in some . If you don’t like the bitter after taste of true Organic Stevia, try NuNaterals Stevia as it has no bitter after taste.
