Is it Just Me?

I'm starting to think maybe I might be the crazy one. I've been sleeping on a very hard mattress at my sister's house (although my niece was sweet enough to give it up so I could have it.) I'm seriously sleep deprived from tossing and turning. And you all know about us leaving our romantic getaway hotel because the bed was too hard to sleep on. Then there's our time share in Park City that we always get sleepless nights at because of the hard bed. And as I sit here and count up the number of times in my life that I've had a soft bed or even a decent bed vs a very hard, horribly hard, terribly hard bed, the hards far outnumber the softs. So am I the odd man out? Do most people, unbeknownst to me and my husband, actually like a hard bed? Maybe it's my hips, my big birthing hips. Because they get numb and sore after a few minutes of digging into a hard bed. Maybe it's that I don't sleep on my back. Or are hotels just all too cheap to spring for a nice soft mattress??? What do you guys think? Weigh in: when it comes to your ideal bed, do you prefer soft or hard?

I think I have already described my bed to you, It is a memory foam mattress that has a soft foam topper, but most people consider my bed hard. It took me a solid week to get used to it, but I absolutely love it now.

I like soft.. nice and comfy. Like my grandma.

Soft, soft, soft! If I wanted hard, I'd just sleep on the floor.

When I stay in a hotel it's usually not the mattress that gives me fits, it's the pillows.
Too big, too small, too flat, too tall, too fluffy, too bumpy, too frilly, too lumpy....hey I read a book about that once.... :)

oh, the softer the better! i would sleep on a giant squishy marshmallow, if i could.
luckily, the house i'm going to for thanksgiving has the biggest, softest bed ever! i hardly miss my own mattress when i'm there. and i NEVER travel without my own pillow.

Definitely memory foam - firm where and when it needs to be and soft in all the right places. We've had almost two weeks of sleepless nights and are looking forward to a third when we go to Dallas. There's no place like home.

Definitely soft. Pillow top with a down feather bed on top of that. Everytime we're at a hotel I wonder who in the hell likes those hard beds?

Soft, the softer and squishier the better!

Mine is just the right amount of soft and hard. The mattress is fantastic - but then we put a feather bed on top and it is like sleeping on a cloud. It really is my favorite place in the whole house!
