Mommy, Mommy, Look What I Made!

I didn't do a garden this year. I suck too much. The last two years have been disasters for the most part with a couple of successes growing up in between. That's why I like berries. They're very hardy and self-sufficient. Especially raspberries. You don't have to do anything but plant them to make them grow, and you have to be extremely talented to ruin them or kill them--I'm not at that level of plantocide yet. So today I went out and picked my first crop of purple raspberries and my second crop of red raspberries. (And Beck picked a nice big handful of the white, unripe ones. Thanks, Honey.) I think I'll make Rote Grütze tonight, which is German for "super yummy berry sauce you serve warm over vanilla ice cream."

i don't do gardens because i suck, as well, but i take it to the next level by mooching off of my father-in-law's garden. i have it down to a fine art form.

it's good to know people who know people.

Oh - I love fresh raspberries. I tried to grow them in Lehi, and they all died :( Guess mine weren't so hardy.

Ohh! Good Idea! I kill everything, that is why my yard has bushes and not flowers, and both plants I got for Chayces birth have since died ( either wated too much or not enough) Berries would be great for me!

Yes, those are my actual berries, Jennie! And I got about that many again in the last 3 days since then. I LOVE having berry bushes! Too bad my strawberry patch got buried by our driveway laying crew.
