The Worst Relatives EVER

One night, a few weeks ago, Big K and I were asked to go out with some friends. It was going to be a late night. We could not find anyone to babysit for us and were getting desperate. As a last resort, we remembered that K's single, younger brother, Doug, was in town from law school for the summer and had said to call him if we ever needed a babysitter. We hadn't planned on taking him up on that, but it was really our last resort. So we called Doug and he agreed to come and watch the kids for us. We had a great night. Then, on the way back, Kelly turned to me and said, "Oh no." "What?" I asked. "It's Doug's birthday," he said. CRAP. Are we the worst brother and sister-in-law on the face of the earth or what??? We felt awful. But we couldn't understand why Doug hadn't said anything. And then it dawned on us: he had probably thought it was all a ruse and that we were secretly planning on throwing him a surprise party. That we were luring him there only to have all his friends and family jump out from behind the furniture and yell, "Surprise!" and shower him with presents and food. How disappointed he must have been when he showed up and we actually HAD forgotten his birthday and actually WERE having him babysit. Poor Doug! So we stopped on the way home and got him a miniature cake for his birthday. We sang to him and made him blow out candles and gave him $20 for his present. Or maybe as pay for babysitting. Probably both. See, we're the worst brother and sister-in-law EVER.

No-the worst relatives ever would be the ones who forget, completely!! Like ME! I never remember birthdays!
It sure looks like he is liking his cake though :)

I am the worst friend ever because one year I called my best friend on her birthday and totally had forgotten it was her birthday and had this whole conversation with her and didn't say one thing. Loser = me.
