I'm a Loser, Baby

I've never solicited people to put their cute little thumbnail right there ------> in the "I Follow This Blog" area, so I've always been pleasantly surprised and happy when a new face would show up there. First there were 3 or 4. Then a sudden burst of Little Pink Houses enthusiasts bumped it up into the double digits. Wow! Next I remember it quickly jumping through the teens in leaps and bounds. Soon people I didn't even know were joining my blog fan club. It was very flattering. Things slowed down in the mid 20's and I seemed to hover there for quite a while. Then it slowly crept up, each person bringing with her a renewal of belief in myself and my ability to waste everyone's time blogging. But then it stuck. At 29. It stayed there for days and weeks. I began to think I was maxing out at 29 even though blogger says that over 60 people have subscribed to my blog. Oh well. It wasn't like I based my self esteem on the number of people who proudly claimed to follow my blog. Ok, I did. So what! Then it happened. Yesteday someone I don't know from Adam pushed my tally into the 30's! I felt such satisfaction, such an outpouring of love and popularity. And then, today, my tally was back down to 29! What the heck?!? Who took me off? Who has decided that I'm really just not as interesting as they thought? No, not even that. Someone thinks I'm SO awful to read that they don't even want their name and picture associated with me. They're getting the hell out of here before they get tainted. UGH. I guess I just SUCK! Well, fine! Good ridance! You are SOOO missing out, Whoever You Are, on some of my best, funniest, most entertaining blog pieces coming up soon. Too bad for you. And don't think I won't notice when your thumbnail picture suddenly shows up again with that air of familiarity that says, "I was here before, but I left because you were a loser." And then maybe I'll delete YOU. Or maybe, just maybe, I'll be feeling benevolent that day and I'll allow you the honor of taking your former place among my REAL fans. Though you definitely won't deserve it. But I'm nice like that. Lucky you.

It perplexes me what little things make people leave. I've had the same thing happen. But I figure if they can't handle the real me then good riddance!

Still following you,
Kelly

I'm going to take my name off if you don't start breaking your posts down into smaller paragraphs!

One big paragraph is too hard to read while I'm on the treadmill.

Hey, Arianne, I'D like to subscribe to your blog if I knew how. You happen to be my technical support daughter, so why don't you tell me how. Then you'll have 30 again. Or maybe 31!
I have a cute photo. I'm a nice mother. Can't I belong?

And tell me how to write you as someone other than "Anonymous."

Looks like I get to be lucky number 30. But seriously, sis! you've got to lighten up a little ;-). You've got 100's of readers, and over 60 subscribers. I don't see the benefit of being a follower instead of just subscribing to you on my google reader...But if it makes you happy, I guess I will.

I have hundreds of readers? Do you really think so??? Wow. Then why are my commens like 5, 6, 3, 9....I want one day to look down there and see 70 or 80. Or even 50. I'd take 50. That would make my day.

I have 4 followers. 29 definately trumps. ( and Yes, you probably do have hundreds of readers. Yours is one of the blogs I read most :) )

I lose followers all the time.
