I Need You Every Hour

Ok, Readers. I need your help. Due to a change in my caloric intake over the last few weeks, and a change in our budgetary financial monetary restrictivityness, I'm now trying to cook more at home. Like, a LOT more. But I'm running low on recipe ideas that are fairly low-cal/low fat and that can be made with things that are found either in my pantry/fridge or at every grocery store in the western hemisphere, not that quaint little specialty grocery store downtown that sells Asian produce and South American meats. Anyone got any good ideas? Please to post them or email them to me. Thank you kindly.

Ok, so I think that I told you that I am doing this flat belly thing, and the food is actually easy and delish! But heres an example---easy and good for you:

Take a whole wheat pita, put some fresh or bottled marinara sauce on it, sprinkle it with "Italian three cheese" cheese, cut up olives and arrange on top----put into toaster oven for about 5 minutes at 400 degrees and voila! A yummy individual pizza and so good for you!

Also, another one of my favorites is whole wheat penne, cooked, sprinkle with olive oil, layer with 1/2 cup ricotta cheese, 1/2 cup marinara sauce, spinach----cover with the same Italian three cheese, and bake for about 5 minutes---until cheese is bubbly. Its a healthy ziti---and so good!

I also love these penne sandwiches that I consume all the time now...whole wheat pita, spread with pesto sauce, use deli turkey, and same Italian cheese, then cut up avocados---can add tomatoes---grill it as a panini or on the stove----it is scrumptious!!

Let me know if you like any of them--I will send you the link for the diet if you do... Happy eating! By the by, I lost 3 lbs this week and that is good in my book!

I wish I could offer something exciting, but our favorite, low cost, low cal meals are tacos (mine is taco salad) and "spuds and weenies". Little bit of olive oil, frozen hashbrowns, browned up and turkey dogs sliced and added it until they are cooked.
I know, we are booooorrrrrrring.

My friend posts recipes all the time that are found under the Core weight watchers plan. Some look normal enough that I would cook them for the whole family and some are ones that I would end up eating by myself. But you can do a search on her blog for "recipe" or "core" and it should pull most of them up. http://discomom.blogspot.com/

I don't have anything that is low-fat/low-cal. If I cook, it's gonna be gooood.

You can do the chicken divan recipe with all fat free or low fat products. It's my kids favorite meal.

I made some veggie burgers that were actually quite simple and Jen loved them, which was weird considering the fact that she's not an involuntary vegan like I am and she's got to have her meat. http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/guy-fieri/morgans-veggie-patties-recipe/index.html
