P90X

Somehow a week or so ago Big Daddy came across someone who uses the P90x workout system. So he borrowed the DVDs. All I can say is, WOW. Have you tried this? Heard of it? Here is a little blurb from their website.

P90X is a revolutionary system of 12 sweat-inducing, muscle-pumping workouts, designed to transform your body from regular to ripped in just 90 days. You'll also receive a comprehensive 3-phase nutrition plan, specially designed supplement options, a detailed fitness guide, a calendar to track your progress, online peer support, and much more. Your personal trainer, Tony Horton, will keep you engaged every step of the way, and you won't believe your results!

Why is P90X so effective?
The secret behind the P90X system is an advanced training technique called "Muscle Confusion," which accelerates the results process by constantly introducing new moves and routines so your body never plateaus, and you never get bored! Whether you want to get lean, bulk up, or just plain get ripped, there's an endless variety of ways to mix and match the routines to keep you motivated the full 90 days and beyond!

So basically, it's an advanced program. It's for people who already exercise to get in better shape and to get better muscle tone. We have done probably 3 or 4 workouts together now, and they are killer. You are definitely getting cardio AND strength training in each work out. We're not even doing a full work out every time. They're an hour long and we never make it that far. And we are both super sore for days afterward. But it is SO fun to work out with my hubby! It is so much better than running on the treadmill alone for 45 minutes. It's energizing to have a partner, MY partner, and to know we're getting in shape together. The DVDs are geared to be guy-friendly. The person who leads the work outs is a guy, and most of the people in the background working out are guys. And he definitely says dorky guy things to motivate you (i.e. Let's melt off some goo!") not girly things (Let's shape those buns, Ladies!), so guys don't have to feel weird doing work out videos.

I'm not sure if I'm writing this to recommend it or warn you away from it....it's hard! But it's good. I guess.....try it at your own risk of becoming awesome looking?

That is great that you can work out together. Eric has done yoga with me a few times and it's so fun (and pretty amusing too.)

I have heard of it - but never tried it. Maybe I could get my hands on a DVD or two and give it a shot.

My bro-in-law and sis-in-law have been doing these workouts and they love them. I can actually see the results in them too.
I think it's great motivation to work out together.
Keep us posted on your progress and at the next blogger lunch you can show us your ripped abs!

Goodie! I really do want to look just like that guy in your photo. But then all the girls will be after my body.

If working out with his spouse, I can see why a guy would want a manly DVD to watch, but he may enjoy those 80's workout programs with the women who have the really cool hair and leg warmers.
