The word goiter is an ugly word, don't you think? GOI-TERRRR. It makes you want to throw up a little bit just saying it, right? And it turns out they are painful too. How do I know? Turns out I have multinodular goiterificitistosiseaerer. I made that last part up. In laymans terms, enlarged thyroid. No one knows why. And by "no one" I mean the several doctors I have gone to already. My thyroid hormone levels are all normal. Yet here I am with this lump on my throat and it hurts so bad I can barely swollow. They say I'll have to get a needle biopsy. On both sides of my thyroid. Gee, doesn't that sound fun? Just to rule out thyroid cancer. Oh, there's a happy thought. Whine whine whine. But, dang, it hurts!
Fortunately, you can't even see it. Yet. I like like this today...
But I might look like this tomorrow...
You never know.)
Watch out, big necked woman coming through!

Sheesh! I was trying to eat my breakfast and now you've gone and ruined it for me!
That picture looks like the cartoons where they swallow a whole watermelon.
Really though, I hope everything turns out to be okay. Needles in your neck sounds nasty!
Awesome! I'm posting about my leg boil tomorrow!!
I just threw up in my mouth. Not a little either.
Thank.You.
Yikes! I'm glad i wasn't eating when I read this.
That sucks. I hope you dont have cancer, and you can get it taken care of soon!
OOOOOOOOEEEEEEEEE! Poor baby! I am curious as to how you made up that phoney medical name. did you just hammer random fingers on the keyboard?
Golly, that poor woman in picture #2! How dreadful! The gal in picture #1. is darn cute!
One of my great grandma's had a goiter. Ick! Good luck with the biopsy. Doesn't sound like much fun. Hope it's nothing.
Geez! I think your neck looks positively slender.
My mom had a GIANT goiter on her thyroid...she had to have her thyroid removed. They biopsied too, nothing...even though a year later we would find out she had cancer in her colon. I don't know if you remember Jodi Adams, from Alexander's...but she also had one, removed it...nothing too big, can barely even notice a scar. Let me know what happens.
Been there done that, have the TShirt, for reals. I had the same issues a few years back. The needle biopsies SUCK (no way around that) and I eventually had my thyroid out. I take one little pill a day and have not had an issue since. Let me know if you need anything. The thyroidectomy was no big deal...easy as pie. Good luck!
I hope it's not cancer. I'd like people I know to stop getting it.
Keep us updated.
And either way, your neck won't get that big.
The Goiters are my favorite football team. Good luck at the doc and keep us posted. It will only hurt for a minute. I think.
I think in general medical procedures suck, but if they get it fixed it will all be worth it. I hope that the biopsy is all clear.
Most multinodular goiters are visible when :
a] patient tilts head back;
b] patient swallows
Most common cause of diffuse thyroid enlargement is thyroiditis; the ultrasound shows heterogeneous echostructure.
The biopsy is performaed for solid nodules if they are larger then 1cm and show evidence of increased blood flow in them or microcalcification.
I saw on your Facebook status that you don't need to get the needles poking you everywhere. Keep us informed so we know what other tortures they do to you. Oh, and good luck and get well.
