I Swear This is a HYPOTHEICAL Question

If you had an annoying personality trait that you weren't aware of, would you want someone to tell you about it? Even if it was painful to hear? Or would you rather not know, even if it meant you would go on losing friends or bugging people and not know why?

(HYPOTHETICALLY!)

Hmmmmmmm..... I wonder who inspired this question?

It would depend on several factors.

1. Is the trait changeable?
2. Who is telling me? Someone close to me?
3. When are they telling me? Not in the middle of a big group or when they're mad at me, right?
4. How and why are they telling me? Lovingly? Because they really care?

yes, yes and YES!!! I am a pretty direct person, and I would hope that others would tell me.

I like Michemily's thoughts. Anything can be done with love and kindness. So if it were brought to me with that intent I think I could handle it, even if it hurt for a while.

I would. I like to think I don't take things too personally. I would prefer to know and make the decision as to whether or not it is something I can/will/want to change rather than let it fester with the other person.

I would totally want to know about it.

Could I guarantee that my feelings wouldn't be hurt? No.

But I would still want to know.

Lay it on me.

Yes, would want to know. I am now girding my loins for what you need to tell me.

Go.....

I think it depends. Is it something that can esaily be changed, like being late all the time? Yes. If it's an innate personality thing, probably not.

I think Michemily said it best.

I would not like to know about it. And I would hope everyone would continue to talk about it behind my back--NOT to my face.

You're describing my mother. Except take out the word trait. She's just annoying, period. And I haven't figured out how to tell her without wounding her for life. So I figure it's my problem.

I absolutely would want to know, and I would hope that my loved ones would have the guts to tell me.

Yes. Good luck with that.

Nope, I wouldn't want to know, but you already know that, lol!

Hmmm....is there something you've been meaning to tell me???

...I probably would like to know...but I can't guarantee I'll be your friend after you tell me...i can hold a grudge... :)

Hmmmm---I don't think that I care enough about what people think----it might be interesting to hear about it, but I probably wouldn't change.

If someone knew they had an annoying trait but no one had told this person it would seem as though this person doesn't need to be told because he/she already knows and is avoiding the facts.

Personally, I don't care too much what other people think. Maybe that's why I don't have any friends to lose.

I would definitely want to know. I strongly suspect that I do, but that nobody is telling me so. If I knew what was wrong, then I might try to fix it.
