Get Your Own Contest!

I can't say that it wasn't completely and totally madening to see my husband lose weight at twice the rate I did when we both did weight loss competitions last year. But at the same time, I was super proud of him. He stuck to it and lost 22 lbs! He looked fantastic afterward--younger, slimmer, sexier. That's him pictured above (in my dreams). And it made it way easier for me to stick to my diet when he wasn't bringing home treats and eating ice cream 3x a day. And when he was willing to eat the diet versions of dinner that I prepared. So I am beyond thrilled to announce that Tiburon will be doing an official men's version of her "The Biggest Loser" competition. Same rules, but just for the fellas. We're not about to let you kick all our baby birthing, saddle-bag sporting, fat-lovin' booties, Guys. So you're just going to have to join your own competition. Anyway, if you're interested, go here and let Tib, the BLMC, know. And ladies, if there is a man in your life who has a bit too many handles-o-love for your taste, ever so gently nudge him over to this website so he can read all about it. Use your powers of persuasion.... There's money involved. And glory. And a hotter bod by the end. And that invariably leads to more sex. So it's pretty much a win-win. Surely that is enough to convince any man to diet for a few months. If sex, glory, and money aren't enough....your man might need electric shock therapy, not a weight loss competition.

If that doesn't work, try this...

So, may the best man win.....your OWN dang competition!

Biggest Loser 6!

Time to stop moping about being fat, stop eating like a fat person, stop looking like a fat person, and get healthy! This is me talking to myself in the mirror, by by the way, not me talking to you. It all started a year and a half ago when I joined the Biggest Loser competition put on by my friend Tiburon. No wait, actually it started a couple of years before that when my metabolism screeched to a halt and I kept on eating like Michael Phelps training for the Olympics. Not a good combination. It all came to a head after I had Beck and I weighed the most I've ever weighed. And I decided to join the Biggest Loser. Sent in my $25, joined Weight Watchers online, weighed in every week and sent my weight to Tib the B.L.M.C. (Biggest Loser Master of Ceremonies, in case you're not up on your acronyms), and at the end of 3 months, I was down 18 lbs and 2 pants sizes. Flash forward another 9 months, Christmas was over and I had gained back about 10 of those lbs. And the Big K was nearing his 5th month of pregnancy. So we decided to do it together this time. He joined a Biggest Loser competition at work just pour hommes, we both joined Weight Watchers, we started working out 4-5 times a week, and at the end he was down 22 lbs and I was down 11.

So now, here it is, another year later. I've gone pretty well at not gaining back all the weight. I set a maximum weight allowance for myself so that any time I went over that, I had to diet. But as long as I stayed under that weight, I could eat what I wanted within reason. And it worked pretty well until about a month ago. Holiday season began and I stopped watching the scale. So now I'm up about 4 lbs above my maximum weight and it's time for me to get back in shape. Plus, I'd like, ideally, to lose about 10 lbs from where I am right now, 15 in my dreams. So I'm joining The Biggest Loser 6 on January 9th. Who is with me?

BIG Losers

Today was the happiest day of my life. OK, that's a slight exaggeration. But to say that Brady getting kicked of Biggest Loser tonight was the best part of my day by FAR is not an exaggeration at all. It actually beat out the chocolate cream pie I was eating while watching Biggest Loser. And that's saying something. So that's either a testament to how lame my day was, or a sign of how much I despise and loathe every single person on the blue team...except Amy, MY HERO! I actually screamed, screamed OUT LOUD and pumped my fists in the air like freaking Tiger Woods, I was so happy when she voted Brady off. I hate hate hate Vicky, and I hate hate (one less hate) Heba, and I definitely hated Brady. Now that he's gone, maybe there is a chance of the other blue losers getting kicked off too. So now you see why this was a truly excellent day for me. WooHoo!!!

Bring It On!

Tomorrow begins the Biggest Loser 3 competition. I'm not talking about the one on TV. No, my friend Tiburon started a local version for our friends and friends of theirs last spring. We all put in $20. It went for 3 months, the person who won the biggest % of weight won the pot. Although I gave Tib a run for her money and was in 2nd place until the last weigh-in, she still kept ahead of me and won. But I felt great, having lost 18 lbs. I skipped out on the Biggest Loser 2 because after losing 18 lbs and weighing less than I had for 5 years, I just didn't have the motivation to keep going. But now I've gained back quite a few of those 18 lbs, so I'm ready for round 3. This time the ante was $25 and with a bunch more people participating, the pot looks like it's up around $600! That would be a sweet pot to win. And even if I don't' win (I've got a lot more competition this time and people are really motivated after the holiday eating extravaganza), I still will be happy to just lose some of this weight, tone my body, and start eating healthier again.

So, starting tomorrow, I'm back on Weight Watchers. I also have my work-out schedule tentatively laid out: Monday morning is a step aerobics class at the gym, Tuesday night is power yoga, Wednesday is no gym (maybe I'll do some Dance Dance Revolution at home if I'm in the mood), Thursday night is power yoga again, and Friday morning is power pump (a combination of step and weights). That one might kick my butt too much, so maybe I'll switch that day to just doing weights. At any rate, Kelly is being super supportive and is going to put the kids to bed the nights that I have power yoga. And if I can get my butt out of bed on time and get the kids ready for my morning classes, I should be able to get a good work-out routine going.

I'm really excited about this. It's going to be tough. I've been eating badly for at least a month--daily Cokes, dessert whenever I feel like it, even occasional fast food--but I feel so ready. I don't like when I don't take care of my body. And even at my lowest weight after Biggest Loser 1, I still needed toning. So I want to work hard and get back into shape. I'm really scared about the caffeine and sugar cravings I'm going to have. And I'm really afraid that the work-outs will kill me or that I'll be miserable doing them and dread going. But the $600 dangling in front of me like a carrot (OK, like a Coke) helps. And Kelly's support helps. And my "before" pictures of myself in a bikini REALLY help. So...wish me luck! And please, don't offer me any sweets for 3 more months!
And maybe if you're really lucky, I'll post my before and after pictures at the end.
