So I'm in charge of making mashed potatoes and pie for our family Thanksgiving dinner. Mashed potatoes are no problem. Easy peasy. But pie is a bit more work. So I've been thinking about which pie, and which recipe, to make. It lead me to the following question:
What's your favorite pie?
It doesn't have to be a Thanksgiving pie. I just wondered what everyone else likes when they think pie.
I like pecan. I also like chocolatey confections with several layers. If the apple pie is fresh and well-made, I like apple. But I'm pretty picky about apple pies because most of them are gross. Sour cream berry pies are good. Pumpkin? NO THANKS. Blech.
What about you?

I love chocolate macadamia. its made the same as pecan, but with macadamias instead and sprinkling chocolate chunks in the crust first. SO GOOD!
I love pumpkin pie with a mountain of whipped cream!!
I would like a pie EXACTLY like the one in your picture: 6 varieties in one pie! In fact, skip the turkey and accessories, and lets go straight for the pie- one whole pie each! The only kind I DON'T like is Rhubarb. Perhaps a good Lemon Cream is my favorite. But I adore a PERFECT pumpkin, which is hard to come by. I notice that the frozen "Mrs. Smith's Deep Dish Pumpkin Pie" IS PERFECT. I couldn't make a better one myself. I tried a frozen Marie Callendar's pumpkin the other day -- definitely inferior to the above mentioned. And the bakery ones taste like soap.
I only eat razzleberry, but I'll eat the crust off the edge of any pie (o:
I like pies a lot, in fact when I was younger instead of having cake and ice cream (because I dont really like either) we would have pizza and pie for my birthdays. I love chocolate mousse, banana cream, a good pecan, cherry, pumpkin, coconut creme. The only pie I really do NOT like is apple, but then again I dont really like apples all that much...
Pie? Meh. Chocolate Cream is pretty good, as is lemon (minus the meringue). Mostly I'd rather eat cake. And cookies. And candy.
I make a mean lemon meringue. My husband says it rocks! Choosing which is my favorite is like having to choose between my children. I just can't pick, I love them all!!!
Ooh, lemon meringue. That's different and DELICIOUS.
Anyways, my aunt makes this "special apple pie" where she does something magnificent to the crust so that it tastes/feels like it's been deep fried. OMGOOD.
Pie? Yes. Please.
Key Lime Pie is one I like. Good luck with your baking!
Happy Thanksgiving!
I do not like pie...especially pumpkin. The texture is disgusting, and pie crust...ewww. However, that being said, I'm making my first pie ever. Ginger snap crust. I saw it on Martha at 2 in the morning about a week ago. It might be gross, but it's butterscotch cream with cashew brittle on the top. I'll let you know how it goes.
anything except pumpkin!
Pumpkin pie = gross!
wishing you and your family a Very Happy Thanksgiving!!!!!
Oh I love pie! Especially Pumpkin :) I know I'm a late responder. I made a super yummy apple pie for Thanksgiving. I can email you the recipe if you'd like. For future reference you know. I also love pecan, but I've never made it. What did you end up doing?
I don't like pie and can't remember the last time I had any... I am more of a brownie and cookie type girl. Hope you had a fantastic Thanksgiving!
I have a hard time on picking just one. Cherry, apple, berries, chocolate cream, banana cream, key lime, pumpkin. I like your mom's idea of skipping turkey and the rest of the meal to focus on the best part.
Pumpkin! Cool whip---ymmmm.
