I recently redecorated...or rather decorated (finally getting around to decorating here) my kitchen with a red and white theme. We finally, after 8 years of marriage, got a real dining room set. It's black and rather modern looking. And then I have accented my kitchen with red and white cushions for the chairs, red and white valances for the windows, and red and white dish towels and other accessories. But what I'm missing, what would really complete the look, is some red and white candlestick holders. I'd love a set of three. Varying heights. Red and white stripes would be perfect. Red and white polka dots would be very nice. But even some other pattern with bright red and white would probably work. But I can't seem to find any anywhere! Red? Yes. White? Yes. But red AND white, no! Not even with Christmas approaching.
That's where YOU come in. I know the power of the internet x the power of women x the power of shopping online = many many eyes all over the massive world of .com shopping who might just run across the perfect set of candlestick holders for me.
SO...if you do, please, pretty please, let me know? I might even persuade Santa to send a little sumpin extra your way.
THX!

An Etsy Bit Too Strange
Etsy.com is a great place to find wonderful handmade, original, custom, unique products. Everything from soaps to jewelry to clothing and more. And most of it is adorable, well-crafted, and beautiful. But every once in a while I run into something that I just think, "Huh?" about. So here's a list of some of the more out-there things I've come across on Etsy lately:
Check out these lovely eyelash extentions. For when Mardi Gras just isn't soon enough.
I’m all for saving the environment. But these flannel, reusable panty liners go just a bit too far for my taste. Plus, they might not work out so well with light colored pants.
I’m not sure which is more troubling. That these are turkey feather earrings, or that they’re called “moths" and look like moths. Frankly, I’m not sure I want to wear either.
Um, yikes! This lovable stuffed troll would give my kids nightmares for weeks. Ok, me. It would give ME nightmares for weeks. Probably years!
They're actually trying to pass this off as jewelry?? For reals? My husband made something better than this wooden charm in woodshop. In first grade! (They do have woodshop in first grade, right?)

Does this really count as handmade goods? Finding pieces of wood on the shore that look like a duck and, I quote, “THE OTHER SOME TYPE OF ANIMAL I'M NOT QUITE SURE WHAT LOOKS KIND OF SAD THOUGH.” I think this person should spend less time collecting drift wood and more time working on their writing skills.
I am not sure which would be uglier: This paper plate holder, or the paper plates that go in it. I think rather than splurge on this toilet-shaped holder, I'd just save up for real plates.

Healing and Fertility Honeysuckle Magic Wand? Oh, phew. I thought they were selling me a bunch of rocks and sticks and crap from their back yard.
I don't mean to scare you off etsy. Most of the stuff on there really is unique and wonderful. But it just goes to show you that Wal-Mart doesn't have a corner-on-the-market on cheap, useless junk.

Watch Your Butt!
Yesterday my darling husband was reading my blog and clicked the "next blog" button, thinking it would send him to my next blog post. Instead, as you know if you've ever clicked that button yourself, it sent him to some random blog in cyberspace. And the one he landed on was....interesting. Possibly disturbing. Definitely in a language I have no way of deciphering whatsoever (it's Finnish, in case you're wondering). So take a gander. And then come back and answer a few questions for me.
Here's a hint...

So my questions are...
Which disturbs you most-- the fact that a man in Finland is taking pictures of women's behinds without them knowing and posting them on his blog for the whole world to see? Or the fact that so many of their behinds are so awful? Because I think the second one bothered me more. It made me paranoid. Is my behind that ugly? Do I look that dumpy in jeans? It definitely made me think twice about ever buying jeans with really low pockets. Those were the least flattering ones by far.
I think I'm going to sign off now and go do some squats. About a thousand. Just in case I ever go to Finland.
