Before I went home, a friend and I stayed on a beach in Choroni for three days (when I say 'stayed' I mean lived and slept). It was just before the tourist season started so we had the beach to ourselves. The jungle was behind us and at either end of the beach were large, very steep verdant hills. You could hear the coconuts dropping, the monkeys howling, and the macaws cawing. We ate in the local restaurants and chatted it up with the owners and residents. The only bad part was the bus ride there and back - it was through very steep mountains on a one-lane dirt road with no guardrails.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-153439800823000090.post-82741848967568056492009-09-10T20:39:24.887-06:002009-09-10T20:39:24.887-06:00My best vacation was at Stanford University, the s...My best vacation was at Stanford University, the summer of '57. My dad was there for a lecture series, and took me along carrying a big stack of great novels. There was a gorgeous little courtyard in the center of some almost-deserted building with a pool and a fountain, arched pillars and tons of ferns. I sat beside the cool trickling water, undisturbed by anyone for 3 days, read and dreamed, and basked in the alone-ness (such a joy after a lifetime living with 9 screaming, racing siblings and one father out-shouting the din.)(No wonder my mother died early!)Financial Aid for Collegehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07421939255186853149noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-153439800823000090.post-7291025611198536652009-09-08T10:21:49.010-06:002009-09-08T10:21:49.010-06:00Haven't been there yet.
