Sad

I took down my tree yesterday. I love my tree. I love my decorations. It made me happy every time I passed by them. I also took down my outdoor lights. Every time I looked out the window or pulled into the driveway, the glow of the white lighs draped across the porch overhang and the bushes made me smile and feel warm inside. I took down all the other Christmas decorations around the house yesterday too, but I didn't mind those so much. After a few days they just felt like clutter. But the tree and the lights....those made me sad.

I took ours down on New Years. Last year, it made me really sad. It was the first year that I had purchased a lot of cute things and it was sad when they went away.

But this year, I was a little sad, but glad to get back to normal. Plus, I bought a floor lamp and ordered some new paintings, so I'm excited about changing things up a bit.

It is sad that the Holidays have gone so fast. I am relieved to try to get my house back to order, but sad that the feeling is gone.

The tree is the last thing I hung onto, too. I loved it. Especially because I had it set on a timer to go on before I got up in the morning. It was the first thing I'd see coming down the stairs in the morning. And if it was gray outside, I'd leave the lights on all day. It cheered me up. Now I just want to shop and redecorate a little, which is fun but not good on the checking account. My hubby would much rather I left the tree up all year than spend more money on decor.

I get sad when I put things away too. Our tree is still up! I missed the pickup day last week so it has to stay until at least Tuesday. I don't really mind. I wish I could have a tree all year long! But that would be weird, à la Garden State.

I'm weird, but you alrady knew that, I can't WAIT to get the tree down and the Christmas crap put away. The clutter seriously causes me anxiety....I love putting it up and enjoying it for a small period of time, but then be done already! : )

Maybe that's what I need to do--shop for new decor to put up after Christmas. Maybe that will ease my pain about taking down the holiday decorations. Thanks for the tip, guys!

This is the first year I couldn't bare to take it down until after the new year. I think I miss the sparkle of the lights the most.
